These are the jobs we take on for West Palm Beach homeowners.

Troubleshooting electrical problems

West Palm Beach has some of the oldest homes in South Florida, and older wiring brings its own puzzles: circuits that feed rooms you would not expect, switches that control nothing, and repairs layered on repairs. We take the time to map what is actually there, find the fault, and leave the circuit cleaner and safer than we found it.

Electrical panel upgrades

We have installed a main breaker panel in West Palm Beach, so this is work we know well in this city. A new main breaker panel gives you a single shutoff for the whole house, room for modern circuits and better protection. We handle the permit and inspection, and coordinate the power shutoff so your day is disrupted as little as possible.

New
installations

One of our West Palm Beach jobs was a new ceiling fan with its own switch, a simple upgrade that makes a room much more comfortable. We install fans, wall switches, dimmers, outlets and light fixtures, and we check that the box and circuit can safely support what goes on them, which matters in older homes.

New wiring or rewiring services

Homes in West Palm Beach’s historic neighborhoods can still have very old wiring, sometimes alongside newer circuits added over the years. Old insulation gets brittle, and older systems often lack grounding. We inspect carefully, replace what is unsafe, and work in a way that respects plaster walls and original details wherever we can.

Surge protection

Palm Beach County gets the same summer storms and hurricane-season outages as Broward. A whole-house surge protector installed at the panel helps protect your AC system, appliances and electronics from spikes coming in on the utility line. If you are already replacing your panel, that is the easiest time to add one.

We are based in Broward, but West Palm Beach is a drive we are glad to make for the right job, whether that is a panel, a fan, or a repair that has been bothering you.

Electrical Work in West Palm Beach’s Older Homes

West Palm Beach is the county seat of Palm Beach County and one of the older cities in South Florida. Neighborhoods near downtown, like Flamingo Park, Grandview Heights, El Cid and Northwood, include many homes from the 1920s through the 1950s. They have character that newer houses cannot match, but their electrical systems were built for a time with far fewer appliances and no central air.

Over the decades, most of those homes have been updated in pieces. One owner added a circuit for the AC, another redid the kitchen, someone else replaced a few outlets. The result can be a panel that is full or outdated, and wiring that mixes several eras. That is exactly the kind of house where a new main breaker panel and a careful safety inspection make a big difference. Some of these neighborhoods are historic districts, so exterior changes may have extra rules; interior electrical work is usually just a matter of the normal permit from the city.

Like the rest of the coast, West Palm Beach deals with hurricane season and salt air near the Intracoastal. Outdoor equipment corrodes faster on the east side of the city, and outages bring surges. Since we come up from Broward, we schedule West Palm Beach jobs ahead of time rather than as same-day calls.

Areas of West Palm Beach where we take jobs include:

  • Grandview Heights
  • El Cid
  • Northwood
  • Prospect Park

Questions we hear in West Palm Beach

Do you really take jobs in West Palm Beach?

Yes. We are based in Plantation and most of our work is in Broward, but we also take jobs in Palm Beach County. In West Palm Beach we have installed a main breaker panel and a new ceiling fan with a switch. Call us with the details and we will tell you if we can schedule it.

What is a main breaker panel and do I need one?

A main breaker panel has a single large breaker that shuts off power to the whole house. Some older homes have no main breaker, or have several disconnects, which is less safe and harder to work with. If your panel is old, full or has no main shutoff, an upgrade is worth considering. We can look and advise.

Can you add a ceiling fan where there is only a light?

Usually, yes. The key is that the ceiling box must be rated to hold a fan, since fans are heavier and move. We swap the box if needed, mount the fan securely and wire it to a switch, or add a separate switch so the fan and light work independently, like we did on a West Palm Beach job.

Is old wiring in a 1920s or 1930s home dangerous?

Not automatically, but it deserves an inspection. Very old wiring may have brittle insulation, no ground, and decades of add-ons. Some older homes have had sections replaced and some have not. We check the condition of what you have and tell you honestly which parts are fine and which should be replaced.

Do you offer same-day service in West Palm Beach?

Because we travel up from Broward, we normally schedule West Palm Beach jobs in advance. Our hours are Monday through Saturday, 8am to 5pm. If you have something urgent, call (754) 799-4371 and ask. We will be straight with you about timing, and if we cannot get there quickly we will tell you.

Other areas we serve

Sunrise, Fort Lauderdale, Coconut Creek, Tamarac, Davie, Miramar, and all of Broward County.
