Questions we hear in Pompano Beach
How does salt air affect my home's electrical system?
Salt in the air settles on metal and speeds up corrosion. Outdoor outlets, fixtures, meter cans and panels are most exposed. Corroded connections can get loose and hot, which leads to tripping, flickering and in bad cases fire risk. Using corrosion-resistant materials and checking outdoor equipment every few years helps a lot.
What should I do if my outlets got wet during a flood?
Do not use them. If water reached outlets, the panel or appliances, turn off power at the main breaker only if you can do it from a dry spot safely. Then have an electrician inspect everything before it is turned back on. Water can leave corrosion and residue that cause problems later.
Do older Pompano Beach homes need rewiring?
Not always. Many older homes have wiring that is still in fair shape, while others have ungrounded circuits, brittle insulation or unsafe splices from past repairs. The only way to know is to look. We inspect the system and tell you which circuits need replacing, if any, so you do not pay for more than you need.
What kind of outdoor lighting holds up near the beach?
Look for fixtures rated for wet locations and made from materials that resist corrosion, such as certain marine-grade finishes, brass or quality composites. Cheap painted steel tends to rust quickly near salt water. Sealed connections and in-use covers on outlets also make a big difference in how long outdoor electrical lasts.
Can you replace my rusted outdoor panel?
Yes. A panel with heavy rust or corroded breakers should be replaced, not just repainted. We size the new panel for your home, install it to code, pull the permit and schedule the inspection. If more capacity would help, for an EV charger or new AC, we plan for that at the same time.
