Questions we hear in Lighthouse Point
Why do my outdoor outlets near the water keep tripping?
Outdoor GFCI outlets are designed to trip when they sense current leaking, and moisture or corrosion inside the box is a common cause. Near salt water that happens more often. Sometimes the outlet itself has failed. We check the outlet, the box and the wiring, then replace parts with weather-resistant ones and add in-use covers.
What outdoor fixtures last longest in a waterfront home?
Fixtures rated for wet locations, made with corrosion-resistant materials like quality brass, marine-grade finishes or composites, hold up best. Inexpensive painted steel usually rusts quickly near salt water. Sealed connections and proper mounting also matter. We can help you choose fixtures that fit the look of your home and the conditions.
Do you install power or lighting at docks?
Call and ask. Every dock and seawall is different, and some setups need specialized equipment. We will look at what is there, tell you what we can safely do, and be honest if the job needs someone with different equipment. For lighting along the yard and toward the water, we can usually help.
Should I upgrade my panel before a renovation?
It is a good idea to check first. Renovations often add circuits for kitchens, bathrooms, AC or a pool, and an older panel may not have the space or capacity. Having us review your load early means the panel work can be scheduled with the rest of the project instead of becoming a delay later.
What should I do after a storm or high water?
Do not touch outlets, panels or appliances that got wet, and keep power off to affected areas if you can do so safely from a dry spot. Have an electrician inspect before turning things back on. Salt water in particular can leave corrosion that causes problems weeks after the water is gone.
